Why is this film important?
It's about men's mental health. It's about structural inequity.
It's about raising awareness.
-
30% of sexual assaults reported in victims of crime surveys are male victim & the female perpetrator. Only 0.5% of those who serve prison time for SA are female.
-
There are 4600 refuge beds for women in the UK, and just 130 men only beds.
-
Male suicide rate is 3 x higher than for females.
-
The construction industry has the highest rate of suicide among all industry.
-
Male offenders are statistically more than twice as likely to receive an immediate custodial (prison) sentence than female offenders, even when controlling for the exact same crime and case characteristics

-
International OECD data suggests that girls tend to receive higher marks in teacher-assessed coursework and class tests than boys who perform at the exact same level on anonymous, external exams
This film dispels the myth that these issues are the fault of 'the patriarchy' & are in fact the result of a deep rooted gender bias in societal attitudes & social institutions
